NameThomas Akass

Team(s):British Snowboard Cross Team

Growing up in the Highlands of Scotland Tom was lucky enough to have mountains not to far away and from the age of 14 spent most weekends at the Cairngorms. Once he left school he went to Edinburgh Napier University where he studied photography and was heavily involved with the Snowsports club. It was here where Tom first got involved with snowboard racing and over his 4 years at Napier achieved 9 podiums, including 4 golds, at British University level.  He hopes to continue this success with the British Team.

Instructing has also played a huge part in helping develop his snowboard skills and share his passion for snowboarding with others. He can normally be found in New Zealand in the summer months where he instructs at Treble Cone and while at University he also instructed at Hillend dryslope.

While not snowboarding Tom has passions for photography, tea and long walks on the beach. He has also been known to do really good skids on his bike.
