Andrew got into cross-country skiing when he was very young as he lived in Alaska, and took up the sport there. He did skiing as a hobby, with only very occasional children's races. When Andrew was 11 he moved back to England and joined the Huntly Nordic Ski Club. It was through Huntly Nordic Club that he got involved in more serious training and racing.
When he was 14 or 15 Andrew started going to Europe to do racing. He improved more and more and as a result was selected for the British Team.
Andrew has represented Britain at the European Youth Olympics, World Junior Championships, World Championships and Olympics.
