Profile - Douglas Crawford

Dougie is one of Britain's top skiers, ranked British number one in both speed events, downhill and super-g. He is looking to race the world cup and Europa cup tours this season.

Dougie grew up skiing on his local dry slope at Bearsden Ski Club. Coming from a keen skiing family he spent a lot of time on the dry slope as well as skiing in the mountains of Scotland and on family holidays. After promising results on dry slope he was encouraged to take part in races and race training on snow.

He quickly progressed to winning the Scottish races and started racing in the British and BARSC championships where he was spotted and selected for the British Children's team.

He moved into the Scottish team when he moved into the junior ranks before being selected onto the British Junior team in 2005.  He won his first senior British title in 2007, claiming the super-g and overall title while still a junior.

Dougie raced his first world cup in Wengen in 2009, finishing a promising 39^th before making his world championship debut in Val D'Isere. There he finished 21^st in the Downhill and 28^th in the Super-G on the legendary 'Face' piste.

In 2010 he claimed four of the five national titles at the British Championships in Meribel, capturing the overall and Victor Ludorum in the process.

The 2011 season was over before it began for Dougie as he was forced to miss the entire season through injury. He has been training hard and is looking ahead to a strong season in World Cup and Europa Cup in 2011/2012.
