Profile - Katie Guest

I started skiing at the age of 5 at Cairngorm, and then when I was old enough I trained with the Scottish Ski Club. Racing really started in 2007 when I entered the children's category but the turning point was not until the 2008 BARSC Championships in Les Menuires, where I came away with a bronze and silver medal. My successes here meant that I was selected for the British children's team.

I then was given the opportunity to attend the British Ski Academy for consecutive winters in Les Houches, courtesy of being awarded a Rannoch Bursary. Here I was able to focus on training and racing throughout the winter months. By the end of my time in the Children's age category my results were improving and ended being placed 3rd overall in the British Children's championships.

This season I am moving up to juniors. I have been selected for the Scottish Alpine Team as well as the British junior team. I plan to start my training in Tignes in October with my first FIS race being scheduled to be in Norway in November.

My initial aim is to score sub 100 in slalom and giant slalom in my first season as a junior.
