Born in Glasgow, Jennifer has lived all of her life in Scotland. She was introduced to skiing at the age of three and took up snowboarding at the age of ten. She continued with both sports for four years, before deciding to concentrate solely on snowboarding.

Jennifer took up competitive snowboarding as a teenager. This started simply enough at the local ski club in member races, but really took hold when she went to the University of Strathclyde and joined their Snowsports team. Entering races at Scottish and GB level, she has over 15 podiums to date across slalom, giant slalom and snowboard cross. It was this success that led to a trial with the GB SBX coaches in April 2011 and selection to the GB SBX Team in 2011.

Academically, Jennifer gained entry onto BSc Forensic Chemistry at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. The university is extremely supportive in accommodating both the pressures of the degree and training/competing for GB. The department is allowing her to do each academic year across two actual years, with the opportunity to study remotely for most of the second semester. Should things not work out, she is keeping the academic side going – just in case – but if successful, she will become a professional snowboarder, and her sporting passion will truly become her life.
