Greatest sporting achievement to date
Competing at the 2010 Winter Olympics, coming 27th at the World U23 Championships, 2011 and 15th in an European Cup race also in 2011
Sporting hero
Sir Steve Redgrave - the man is a true legend
Most important support person
My family who have supported me from an early age in the sport and also, on a race day, good wax technicians are crucial but often don’t get the credit they deserve.
What’s your training regime?
I train once or twice a day, six days a week, and do between 10 and 25 hours of training a week, depending on what part of a training plan I’m in. My training is made up of long gentle low intensity sessions, interval sessions (both at threshold and at max) and strength and conditioning sessions. During the summer I do a lot of running, cycling, rollerskiing and gym work. During the winter I spend as much time on snow as possible.
Nutrition whilst training
My favourite pre training food is porridge. I always have it for breakfast, quite often have it before an afternoon session and even sometimes before I go to bed.
The best thing about cross country skiing
The wonderful places we get to travel to for training and competitions, the people we get to meet, the excitement and adrenaline of racing and the satisfaction after putting in a good performance.
