Short Bio:

Charlie was introduced to skiing at the age of 3 on the golf course just down the road from her grandmother’s home in Nethy Bridge; from there she joined the SSC race training group at Cairngorm Mountain, and immediately fell in love with the sport. Constantly trying to remain ahead of her 3 younger siblings, Charlie's competitive edge soon became obvious, and in 2007 she was given a Rannoch bursary that allowed her to attend the British Ski Academy in Les Houches to train for the winter season.

Shortly afterwards, Charlie was selected onto the British Childrens’ team, and attended Topolino and Trofeu Borrufa in Andorra where she had her first taste of success and won the Slalom, becoming the first British girl to win at a children’s FIS race.

On moving into FIS, she spent a number of years with the Scottish Ski Team, during which time she qualified and attended the European Youth Olympic Winter games where she gained valuable experience and realised where she needed to be to catch up with the best in the world for her age. In 2011, Charlie began training and racing with her current coach and team mate and managed to make some great improvements whilst juggling A-levels and a part time training programme.

The 2012/13 season was Charlie’s first season as a full time athlete, and the extra time on snow was put to good use. During that season, she made her Europa Cup and World Cup debuts, and more than halved her world rankings across Slalom, GS and Super-G. In addition to this, she ended the season ranked number 1 in Britain for women’s slalom.

Season 13/14 has started well for Charlie, and after the summer season in New Zealand she won the ANC GS title which will give her bib 31 in all Europa Cup GS this season – a huge help towards achieving her seasons goals which are to break regularly into the top 30 in Europa Cup and make top 10 results at the World Junior Championships in February. Ultimately her dreams are to represent Team GB at the Winter Olympic Games as well as winning medals at World Cup level.
