Timescale announced for election of new BSS Chair of Alpine, Speed and Telemark Committee

British Ski and Snowboard’s Alpine Business Group has advised the BSS Board that they believe that the election for a new Chair of the Alpine, Speed and Telemark (AST) committee should take place in early March 2015, to allow time for informed nominations and debate during the coming winter season. The Board have agreed to this request.
The Alpine Business Group has been in place since March and has had its mandate extended to next April to work and represent the needs of Alpine Skiing. It is chaired by Tony Willis and includes Robin Kellen, Marc Telling, Lloyd Jenkins, Benn Hall, Jenny Shute, Andrew Dixon and Dougie Crawford. The timescale for the election of a new AST Committee Chair will not be allowed to interrupt the progress in the administration of the sport that this new Group is making.
In addition to ensuring the ongoing flow of work continues, the Alpine Business Group is currently working on a series of initiatives that it hopes can be put in place before the start of the 2014-15 season. There have already been a number of initiatives announced including revisions to selection criteria and the formation of a Coaches Advisory Group, with more to follow.
Following the election, the newly appointed Chair of the ASTC will attend the Delancey British National Alpine Championships in Tignes, and in the interim, the Alpine Business Group have proposed to the AST Committee and the BSS Board that the current acting chairman, Adrian Pery, remains in role until such time as an elected chairman takes post. Adrian will be granted temporary status on the BSS Board to enable continued business.
A confirmed date for the election will be announced closer to the time.
