Strong finish for Musgrave in Tour de Ski and 24th in Adelbolden for Dave Ryding

Andrew Musgrave couldn’t quite keep his 11^th place in the Tour de Ski, but still finished strongly with 20^th place in the Final Climb (9km Freestyle Pursuit) up Alpe Cermis yesterday following 35^th place in the 15km Classic on Saturday. This meant Musgrave finished a fantastic 20^th overall in the Tour de Ski with five top 30s in seven races, four of those being top 20, and of course he was the fastest skier in the 25km Freestyle Pursuit in Tolbach – a historic result for British Cross Country skiing.

There was another great result from Delancey British Alpine Ski Team athlete Dave Ryding in yesterday’s World Cup Slalom in Adelbolden. On a tough course with the steepest pitch of a World Cup Slalom course, Dave Ryding put in a solid performance, completing his first run and then becoming the 8^th fastest skier in his second run to take 24^th overall. He now faces his next challenge, the Slalom World Cup in Wengen next Sunday.

For team mate Alex Tilley, she competes in tomorrow nights World Cup Slalom in Flachau, Austria, her second World Cup of the season after competing in Aspen earlier this winter. The first run is at 16.45 UK time.

At the Ski Cross World Cup in Val Thorens, there were promising signs from Ed Drake, who clocked 18^th on the top split in Saturday’s race, but unfortunately didn’t manage to finish. This was after just missing out in qualification for Friday’s race earlier in the week. 

Moguls skier Ellie Koyander secured a 26^th place in the Moguls World Cup in Deer Valley, USA on Friday and a day later finished 30^th in the Dual Moguls at the same venue. She now flies back to Europe for the World Championships.

For the other members of the senior British Nordic team, Fiona Hughes took 46^th place yesterday in the Skiathlon in the Scandinavian Cup in Falun, with Posy Musgrave taking 57^th. Posy finished 70^th in Saturday’s 10km, with Fiona finishing in 79^th.

This week sees the start of the Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships in Kreischberg, Austria, which run from 14-25 January.
