Sochi Freestyle Olympian Billy Morgan Launches Active Nation's New Freestyle Club @ Alpine Snowsports Southampton

Great Britain’s freestyle superstar Billy Morgan will be returning to the slopes that started his love of snowboarding for the launch of a new freestyle event that aims to encourage more people into the sport.
Billy and the rest of Team GB captured the nation’s attention and filled us with excitement when they introduced us all to the world of Slopestyle at this year’s Winter Olympics in Sochi. Since then interest in the sport has dramatically increased, with people taking to the slopes for the first time hoping to learn the skills needed to replicate some of those incredible tricks.
To jump on board this surge of excitement and continue the development of the sport, national charity Active Nation have teamed up with Billy to launch a new Freestyle club which will take place each week in Southampton. The sessions, at The Alpine Snowsports centre in Southampton will meet each Friday from 6pm to 9.30pm. The first session, taking place on Friday 13th June, will see Billy take to the slopes for a master class exhibition of how it should be done, and then be on hand to offer hints and tips to fellow snowboarders.
Equipment at the new sessions will include ramps, rails, slide box, quarter pipe and lots of other testing features. And although we might not get to see Billy’s world famous Triple Rodeo on the day, it’s certainly going to be inspiring for the next wave of freestylers to see him in action.
So if you’re thinking of making the switch from a skateboard to a snowboard, or are just feeling inspired by Team GB’s achievements at Sochi, this is a great opportunity to get involved!
The launch event on Friday 13th June will be a special introductory price of £5 per person. For more information give us a call on 0300 0200 135 (option 1) or just come along on the night!
