SIGB Congratulate Team GB Skiers & Snowboarders

The Snowsport Industries of Great Britain (SIGB) today sent a letter of congratulations to the athletes of Team GB. The SIGB is a trade body for the UK snowsports industry. Here it is:
A message of congratulations from the Snowsport Industries of Great Britain to Team GB following their Sochi 2014 success
I would like to take this opportunity to offer my warmest congratulations from the SIGB to all the athletes of Team GB at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics.
Sochi 2014 was the most successful Games for British snow athletes ever, consisting of one bronze medal and six top ten results. This success and the exposure of wintersports in the UK has really ignited the interest in snowsports with the British public, resulting in increased uptake of Snowsport England’s “GO SKI GO BOARD” initiative at many of the dry slopes and indoor snow centres around the country as well as more people heading to the Scottish ski centres.
Many of Team GB’s skiers and snowboarders first started their journey to Olympic success at these outdoor slopes and indoor centres. This journey has really inspired many more people to give skiing and snowboarding a go, with the dream of becoming a future Olympian and we thank you, the athletes, for your inspiration and being such fantastic role models.
This success can only be achieved with all the hard work they have put in leading up to the Games alongside the tireless work of their coaching staff and support team.
We would also like to extend our congratulations to the National Governing Body for snowsports, British Ski and Snowboard. Everyone recognises that the world class performances witnessed require adequate levels of funding. Now that the potential has been demonstrated we welcome the news that there will be increased support from UK Sport for wintersports and hope that all British snowsport athletes can benefit from the Sochi effect. Increased support for snowsports will be welcomed by the SIGB and we hope it will result in even better performances in Pyeong Chang in 2018.
The buzz around snowsports in Britain at the moment can only help to increase participation, which will in turn lead to a healthier snowsports industry as a whole.
Many congratulations
Sam Noble
