OSP Survey Results

In December 2014 and January 2015 British Ski and Snowboard (BSS) asked its members to complete a survey in order to seek a consensus view on the philosophy that BSS should adopt in relation to recommending and agreeing Olympic Qualification Standards (OQS) with the BOA.  The Board of BSS hoped that many of its members would respond to the survey and there would then be a clear mandate for negotiation with the BOA on this subject.  However, only 44 of BSS’s just under 500 members responded to the survey and the conclusions that can be drawn are therefore severely limited by this low turnout.

Never the less the Board have reviewed the results of the survey and drawn the following conclusions:

1. The BOA should be given the full results of the survey so that they can see how a cross section of our members feel about Olympic Qualification Standards

2. BSS Discipline Heads (Chairs of each BSS Discipline Committee) should take responsibility for negotiating with the BOA to agree the OQS for the Olympic events within that Discipline.  The Discipline Heads will be able to call on support from the BSS staff and the BSS Board as they see fit.

3. BSS Discipline Heads should continue to oversee the production and implementation of Qualification Standards for World Championship events.
