Europa Cup Podium for Dave Ryding and a strong start for Andrew Musgrave in the Tour de Ski
Last weekend saw Dave Ryding secure a 2nd and 4th place at the Europa Cup Slalom Races in Chamonix. On Friday under the floodlights and with wet conditions, Ryding was in 2nd place after the first run, but dropped down into 4th after the second run. Saturday’s race was moved to earlier in the day, and Ryding skied well to take 2nd place in a strong field. His next race is tomorrow where he takes part in the World Cup Slalom in Zagreb, Croatia.
Andrew Musgrave had a good start to 2015, finishing 26th in the 15km Classic Pursuit and 32nd in the 4km Prologue at the first stop of the Tour de Ski in Obertsdorf. Muzzy now sits just 1.07 minutes behind the Tour de Ski leader Petter Northug. Andrew Young also performed well in the Prologue, finishing 44th out of 93 starters after a storming 2nd loop. In the 15km Classic Pursuit, Andrew Young had a tough race, meaning he is currently lying in 64th overall in the Tour de Ski. The next leg of the Tour de Ski is tomorrow in Val Mustair, Switzerland.
For Moguls skier Ellie Koyander, she finished in 35th position in the Calgary World Cup Moguls on Saturday. She will now turn her thoughts to the Freestyle World Championships next week in Kreischberg, Austria.
For the Park and Pipe team, many of them continued to train in the USA over Christmas and New Year. Unfortunately for snowboarder Ben Kilner he had an accident in training and has injured his pelvis. He is due to be out for 6-8 weeks and all at BSS wish him a speedy recovery. For the rest of the Park and Pipe squad, many of them will be competing in the Freestyle World Championships next week in Kreischberg, Austria. The full squad for the Championships will be announced later this week.
