Dave Ryding wins Europa Cup, Andrew Young in Cross Country World Cup Top 30 and world class performances at the Dew Tour
This weekend confirmed how strong our British Ski and Snowboard athletes are at present with some outstanding performances across the skiing and snowboarding disciplines.
Last night Team BSS skier Dave Ryding won the FIS Europa Cup night Slalom in Pozza di Fassa, Italy. His best FIS points result ever and a firm reminder he is in great form as he heads towards Sochi 2014 and a quest for a place onTeam GB.
Over in Davos, Switzerland, Team BSS Cross Country skier Andrew Young got his first ever World Cup points as he finished 29th in the Freestyle Sprint yesterday, a fantastic result for Young. In the same race team mate Andrew Musgrave finished 34th. That was after a good performance in the 30k freestyle event on Saturday where he came 36th. For the ladies, Posy Musgrave came in 51st in the Freestyle Sprint race.
In Breckenridge, the Dew Tour, one of the most significant events on the Freestyle Ski and Snowboard circuit saw some brilliant results for Team BSS athletes. Aimee Fuller came 7th in the Snowboard Slopestyle finals where she was up against a very strong field. Rowan Cheshire turned a few heads with huge amplitude and solid spins in the Ski Halfpipe, she also came 7th in the final. James ‘Woodsy’ Woods had a good start to his season finishing 6th in a very strong field in the Ski Slopestyle. Jamie Nicholls continued to show fantastic form with 2nd in the Dew Tour rail jam, confirming himself as one ofthe world’s best rail riders. A solid set of results going into the Copper Mountain World Cup for Freestyle Ski and Snowboard next weekend.
In the Snowboard Halfpipe World Cup in Ruka, Finland, Dom Harington placed 26th in a strong field which is a good start to the season as he tries to stay in the top 40 of the FIS ranking list.
For the mogul skiers, Ellie Koyander came in 32nd in the Moguls World Cup in Ruka, Finland. Unfortunately Max Willis DNF in the men’s competition. In theWorld Cup Aerials in Lake Beida, China, Harry Gillam came in 24th place.
For the Ski Cross racers there was frustration in Val Thorens for the World Cup with Emily Sarsfield crashing in her heat and Ed Drake narrowly missing out in qualifying for the finals. Pete Whelan also missed the cut.
In the Snowboard Parallel World Cup event in Carezza, Italy, Adam McLeish came in 36th in the Parallel GS and 41st in the Parallel Slalom.
