BSS Alpine CIT Squad Announcement
Embedded within the CIT race structure there is also a championship. Around 15 of the total of perhaps 50-60 races on the calendar are designated as part of the Sir Arnold Lunn World Cup. This works like a tour, it has a tour finals and historically it has also had a separate set piece event. In 2012-13 GBR was 8th overall as a nation with 366 points and both Darcie Mead and Natalia Harte finished within the top 20 ladies as individuals. In 2013-14 GBR was 6th overall as a nation with 1110 points. Cara Brown won the women’s tour and Alice Macaulay finished 5th.
In 2013/14 BSS launched the BSS CIT Squad and is delighted to announce that this programme will again run during the 2014/15 season. Last year 30 athletes gained BSS CIT squad status and we hope the programme will be equally successful in the current year. We are also delighted that for the second consecutive year GBR is scheduled to host an ALWC meeting during the season. The Aiglon races at Villars-Gryon from Feb 4 to Feb 6 will again be CIT races and the first two of the three scheduled races will form part of the ALWC tour.

ELIGIBILITY
In order to qualify as a member of the 2014/15 BSS CIT SQUAD all athletes must fulfil two criteria:
- They must start in an ALWC race
- They must fulfil one of the eligibility criteria given below
These eligibility criteria are as follows:
- Membership of any of our elite GBR performance squads will be sufficient. These are: the Delancey British U18 Alpine Ski Squad; the Delancey British U21 Alpine Ski Squad; the Delancey British Alpine Senior Ski Squad.
- Having a FIS point score at any stage of the 2014-15 season better than or equal to the scores outlined in table 1 will result in eligibility for the remaining part of the season. We have made significant changes here. We have increased levels for SL and GS and reduced them for DH to reflect changes in the F factors which FIS uses to calculate race points. We have also equalised the point thresholds between men and women.
- For those athletes who are not otherwise eligible, scoring 15 ALWC points across the season will gain them eligibility at the end of the season. This is a change to recognise contributions over the full season.
- For those athletes who are not otherwise eligible, scoring a single result in line with or better than the scores outlined in Appendix 1 in an ALWC race will gain them eligibility for that meeting only.
There are two general qualifications for ALWC races that still apply for the 2014-15 season:
- There are provisions that relate to how close you live to a recognised ski resort. If you do live in a ski resort it is possible that though you will be allowed to ski in the ALWC series you will not be allowed to score ALWC points on behalf of GBR or yourself. However if you are otherwise eligible for the BSS CIT SQUAD then BSS will still give you formal recognition.
- In addition if an athlete skis in any of: Olympic Winter Games, World Cup, World Championships, World Junior Championships or Europa Cup, they are then suspended from scoring ALWC points until the following season. In these cases the athletes will no longer be eligible for BSS CIT status from the date of their participation in the senior events.
For the avoidance of doubt there will be no preferential entry to the ALWC races that derives from being a member of the BSS CIT squad.
LOGISTICS
BSS will not provide any logistical support. At the end of the season BSS will again review how this initiative has worked and what changes may be appropriate for the following season.
CALENDAR AND RULES
The most recent rule book covering the Arnold Lunn World Cup was written in 2010/11. The provisions in this book will remain in place for the current season, although it is possible changes will be made for 2015-16.
