BSS Alpine Business Group announces formation of Coaches Advisory Group
Earlier this week the Alpine Business Group wrote to a number of Alpine coaches inviting them to participate in a Coaches Advisory Group. The Alpine Business Group wanted to make the following points in public:
- It is hoped that this group can become an important focal point for many issues within Alpine. However, it should initially be involved in helping in the development of a number of specific initiatives that the Alpine Business Group hopes to launch over the next three months.
- This group is meant to be advisory and it is in the nature of advice that it may not always be acted upon. However, gaining an understanding of the balance and breadth of views from this group on many issues should be of significant value, and if this group can become established and speak with a single voice it will be hard to ignore.
- The Alpine Business Group does have some concerns about size of this group. Too few means it may not be representative and too many means it may become unwieldy and ineffective. The act of inviting some inevitably involves not inviting others and a risk that we will offend some. If you have not been invited but think you should be involved then please write to Tony Willis at bss@teambss.org.uk. We may say no but we will look. As a guide we have mainly invited coaches with direct experience of coaching multiple elite British athletes either while they were Children or as adults.
- Given the time of year many of the coaches that we have invited are busy in the mountains and it may be some time before all of them have had the chance to consider their invitations. We have no interest in publishing a list of those who feel they cannot contribute and consequently will look to publish in September a list of members who have accepted.
