British Speed-Skier Jan Farrell wins the overall FIS World Cup with 4 victories in a row

The Lancaster-born skier who is based in Madrid and trains mainly in Spain and Austria, ousted a tight pack of Austrians, Swedes and Swiss for the first place.

With still one World Cup race to go in the Swedish Idre Fjäll resort, Farrell was crowned overall World Cup Speed Ski SDH champion of 2013/14. The 6th race of the season finished with his 4th victory in a row, 2kmh faster than the second racer at 159.49kmh, just shy of 100mph.

This 4th victory marks the pinnacle of a successful season. Jan’s first ever World Cup win in Andorra gave him the motivation for Canada, where he won all 6 runs of the 2 World Cups. He had a strong pre-season including 60 days on snow starting in May, long gym sessions and balance training.

Today’s World Cup standings leave him 141 points ahead of Austrian Markus Muenzer and 160 ahead of also Austrian Guenther Foidl.

The team Atomic racer’s next objective is to beat the Downhill class World Record in Vars (France), an invitation only event starting on the 28th of March, at a speed of 210.77kmh (130.97mph).
