Andrew Musgrave makes history as fastest skier in Tour de Ski 25km Freestyle Pursuit
British Cross Country skier Andrew Musgrave made history as the fastest skier in today’s 25km Freestyle Pursuit in the Tour de Ski in Toblach, Italy, moving him up to 11th in the overall Tour de Ski rankings.
Musgrave’s win in this stage of the Tour follows Wednesday’s fantastic results in the Val Mustair leg of the Tour de Ski, when both Musgrave and team mate Andrew Young finished in the top 20 of the Sprint (Freestyle) competition, both securing World Cup points. Although they have both reached top 30 before, this is the first time both have been in the top 20 and another memorable day for the British team.
Yesterday Andrew Musgrave also put in a fantastic performance finishing 20th in the 10km Classic in Toblach, Italy.
Coach Roy Young said of the results: “What a day, what a week, the word legend springs to mind – it was a great race today particularly after the result in Val Mustair and Muzzy’s best ever Classic World Cup race yesterday”
Musgrave’s Tour de Ski finale comes this weekend in Val di Fiemme (Italy) with the 15km Classic mass start competition on Saturday 10th and the traditional Final Climb (9km Freestyle Pursiut) up Alpe Cermis on Sunday 11th January.
