Action kicks off for British skiers this week at Alpine World Ski Championships in Vail-Beaver Creek
For the Delancey British Alpine Ski Team, action at the World Championships in Vail-Beaver Creek kicks off this week with Dave Ryding, Jack Gower, Charlie Raposo, Alex Tilley and Charlie Guest all looking to make their mark at the biggest event on the Alpine circuit this season.
Tomorrow Dave Ryding, Charlie Raposo, Alex Tilley and Charlie Guest will compete in the Nations Team Event after confirmation over the weekend the team had an entry. You can watch the action on British Eurosport from 21.00 GMT.
Thursday then sees in-form Alex Tilley take on the Ladies GS alongside teammate Charlie Guest who is looking strong, despite just returning from a back injury. The Men’s GS Qualification takes place the same day with Jack Gower and Charlie Raposo competing for Great Britain. If they are successful in qualification they will go on to race in Friday’s GS.
Saturday is the Women’s Slalom where both Alex Tilley and Charlie Guest will compete. Saturday is also Slalom qualification for the Men, with Charlie Raposo joining Dave Ryding in Beaver Creek. The Men’s Slalom final is on Sunday.

In the other disciplines, there were more great results from Cross Country skier Andrew Young in Almaty for the Cross Country World Junior & U23 Championships. Young scored a hat-trick of top 20 places with 16th place in the 30km Skiathlon on Saturday which followed two top 20s in the Sprint Classic race (12th position) and 15km Freestyle event (16th position).
There was frustration for James Woods in the US at the US Freeskiing Grand Prix in Mammoth. Unfortunately no competition could take place due to high winds and unfavourable weather.
