3rd place for Jenny Jones, Snowboard World Junior Championship success and Delancey British Alpine Ski Championships and The Brits begin

Jenny Jones, competing for the first time since her Olympic bronze medal win in Sochi, came joint third in the Nine Queens Big Air competition in Livigno, Italy. The contest was won by Elena Konz from Switzerland with Jessika Jenson (USA) coming in second and Jenny Jones sharing third spot with Isabel Derungs (SUI). Katie Summerhayes also competed in the Freeski contest, but on this occasion didn’t make it onto the podium.
There was more success for our junior snowboarders in Valmalenco at the World Junior Freestyle Ski and Snowboard Championships. Rowan Coultas took 2nd spot in the Men’s Snowboard Slopestyle yesterday with Katie Ormerod claiming 3rd position in the girl’s contest, both up against large world class fields. This Wednesday is the Snowboard Cross competition and on Wednesday and Thursday it is Ski Slopestyle. Competing for Great Britain will be Maisie Potter, Andrew Richardson and Johnny Chan in Snowboard Cross and Katie Summerhayes, Molly Summerhayes, Anna Vincenti , Mike Rowlands, Cal Sandieson and Joe Hides in Ski Slopestyle.
Yesterday the 2014 Delancey British Alpine Championships began in Meribel with the Men and Women’s Super G. Just days before her retirement, Chemmy Alcott won the women’s title beating off challenges from Cara Brown who came 2nd and Honor Clissold who was 3rd. Dougie Crawford took the title for the men with Billy Major coming 2nd and Max Baggio in 3rd.
The British Snowboard & Freestyle Ski Championships (The BRITS) has started in Tignes, France and will run until Saturday. British Ski and Snowboard athletes competing include Olympian and freestyle skier James Machon and snowboarder Jamie Trinder. A full schedule can be found at www.the-brits.com
At the European Freeski Open in Laax, Switzerland , Molly Summerhayes came 10th in the Ski Slopestyle and Madi Rowlands, the youngest female competitor, came 11th. Mike Rowlands and Cal Sandieson made it through to the semi finals but couldn’t quite reach the finals.
In the Grandvalira Total Fight contest in Andorra Billy Morgan came 14th overall with Torgeir Bergrem from Norway claiming top position.
