17th place in World Cup Slalom for Dave Ryding and weekend round up
Dave Ryding had his best ever World Cup result yesterday, finishing in 17th place in the World Cup Slalom in Are, Sweden. Ryding will look to continue his form this week following such a fantastic result as he competes in the San Vigilo Slalom today them Obereggen (17th December) and Pozza di Fassa (19th December).
There was more success for our Delancey British Alpine Team athletes in Panorama, Canada in the Nor-Am races. Alex Tilley won the Ladies Slalom yesterday scoring an incredible 11.11 FIS point result. For the men, Jack Gower had a strong result finishing 12th in the Super G, with a 26 point result,and 21st in the AlpineCombined. Nick Moynihan finished 27th in the Alpine Combined race. The Panorama Nor-Am series continues until 20th December with Slalom, Super G, GS and AC. Over in Mammoth, Alex Barounos came 4th in the Men’s GS FIS race yesterday – a great result for the 19 year old.
The Dew Tour took place in Breckenridge, Colorado at the end of last week and over the weekend. With an incredibly high standard of riders this year, the competition was tough, with all our athletes just missing out on the finals. Katie Summerhayes was the closest, missing out by half a point in the last chance qualifying round in the Women’s Ski Slopestyle. In the Men’s Ski Slopestyle James Woods finished 16th in the semifinals. Jamie Nicholls finished 17th in the Men’s Snowboard Slopestyle semi-finals, with Billy Morgan in 26th. Aimee Fuller came 11th in her semifinal in the Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle semifinal.
Moguls skier Ellie Koyander finished 29th in the Dual Moguls on Saturday in Ruka, Finland, her first World Cup of the season. She will now go on to compete at the Calgary Moguls World Cup in January.
For our British Cross Country athletes, Andrew Musgrave, Andrew Young and Posy Musgrave competed in the Davos Cross Country World Cup this weekend. Andrew Musgrave finished 41st in the Freestyle Sprint yesterday, with Andrew Young coming 58th in the same race. Andrew Musgrave also competed in the Men’s 15km Classic, finishing 69th. Posy Musgrave came 55th in the Women’s Freestyle Sprint yesterday. The team will now stay in Davos for the next World Cup this weekend, which was rearranged from La Clusaz, France.
