DELANCEY SIGNS TWO-YEAR DEAL TO SUPPORT BRITISH SKI & SNOWBOARD
& ANNOUNCE SPONSORSHIP OF THE 'DELANCEY BRITISH NATIONAL ALPINE SKI CHAMPIONSHIPS'

British Ski and Snowboard is pleased to announce that Delancey, a specialist property investment advisor and development group, will be the new principal sponsor of the British National Alpine Ski Championships in both 2011 and 2012. The 2011 Championships, which commences in just over two week's time, will be held in the French resort of Meribel. It is one of the key events on the 2010/11 British ski calendar and is open to competitors from around the world.
From the 27th March to 4th April the best of Britain's alpine skiers will compete for FIS points against top international talent on the slopes of Meribel. Some of the country's talented young stars will then compete in the Children's Championships - which takes place from 5th to 8th April.
David Edwards, Chief Executive of British Ski and Snowboard commented: "We are delighted that Delancey has decided to partner with us to help deliver the most exciting event on the British Alpine racing calendar. Their help will extend beyond backing for these Championships, it will also provide some funding to help our Alpine athletes to develop and compete on a world stage."

2011 will be the 33rd year that Sir John Ritblat - Chairman of Delancey's Advisory Board - has been involved with sponsorship of the sport. President of the old British Ski Federation, Sir John continues to be one of skiing's strongest supporters and funding lobbyists. Commenting on the event and Delancey's new involvement, Sir John said:
"In our view, the forthcoming British National Alpine Ski Championships is as important as any world championships. Britain has tremendous young prospects across all of its skiing disciplines. However in order for them to be in with a chance of challenging for medals at the 2014 and 2018 Winter Olympic Games, it is crucial that they have the opportunity to attend race events. Most important is that they secure the long-term funding that they and the sport so desperately require. A solid financial platform is the only way to ensure Britain maintains its world-class reputation in this, and any other, sport."

British Ski and Snowboard (BSS) is the National Governing Body for Skiing and Snowboarding in the United Kingdom. It is the official body International Ski Federation (FIS) and by the British Olympic Association. It is a new organisation which has been set up as the successor to the previous federation, under the aegis of the British Olympic Association. The British Olympic Association stepped in and launched BSS to ensure that Athletes within the FIS British Ski and Snowboard aims to see British skiers and riders on the podiums at world events in the next four to eight years.
