Action Heats Up on the Slopes of Meribel with the NJC Men's Giant Slalom and Slalom Ladies

Today saw 76 Men competing in the NJC Men's Giant Slalom and 50 Ladies taking part in the Slalom, in temperatures so warm that the races were brought forward and started at 07:45.
Harriet
Steggles once again dominated the leader board at the 2011 Delancey
British National Alpine Ski Championships and achieved the top time
of the day, 1.29.00. She was awarded the Ski Club of Great Britain
Silver Salver for being the best British Overall Junior Slalom
Champion and also won the International medal. Charlotte Guest from
the Scottish Ski Club closely followed with a time of 1.31.68 and
Rachelle Rogers came third with a time of 1.32.39. Rachelle was
awarded the British Junior 1 English Ski Council Cup, with Hope
Whitelaw coming second and Helen Nelson coming third. Having had
good results in the first race, unfortunately, Stephanie Espinose,
Charlotte Davies and Sarah Norton all came out on the first half of
the course.
In the
Men's Giant Slalom, Giacomo De Marchi, from Italy crossed the line
with the best time of 2.09.05, winning the International race. Jaba
Gelashvili from Georgia came second and Leo Vukelic from Croatia
came third. Jack Gower was awarded the trophy for the best British
Overall Junior Walter Hutchinson Challenge Cup and completed the
course in a time of 2.10.60, with Jo Morrison coming 2nd
and Alastair Stang coming 3rd. For the Junior 1 Boys,
Jack Gower was awarded the Dragons Ski Club Cup, with Max Baggio
coming second and Euan MacFie coming third.
