Stunning Start to the Season for Charlie Raposo

Charlie Raposo NZ GS

British alpine junior team athlete, Charlie Raposo, has got his first season as a FIS athlete off to an amazing start, with some fantastic results in Cardrona-Treble Cone, New Zealand.

Charlie, who is currently training and completing his studies at Green Mountain Valley School, USA, finished in 15th place with 58.28 FIS points in the FIS Giant Slalom on 4th August.  This is an outstanding result for any junior 1 athlete, made even more special as it was only his 3rd race of the season.  Speaking after the race, Charlie said:

"I am so pumped about the result I got and it puts me in a great place coming into the Northern Hemisphere winter, but that result is only the third out of many to come so I am going right back to training. I'm going to work on making the turns even faster and looking to lower those points and most of all have a great time doing it. I love being in FIS now, racing against the "big guns" and the mental tactics you take into a FIS race I enjoy much more than the tactics in a children's race."

In addition to this great achievement all of Charlie's other result from the Cardrona-Treble Cone were also fantastic:

  • FIS GS on 1st August - 31st (80.05 points)
  • FIS SL on 2nd August - 20th (66.94 points)
  • FIS SL on 5th August - 13th (95.05 points)
