Podium for Gillings
Zoe Gillings finishes the season off on a high with a podium at Valmalenco in the final round of the SBX World Cup.
The result comes as the best of the year for Zoe after what has been one of her most successful seasons. She has had one of her best runs at World Cup level this year, recording 7 finals and top 10 results at every event this year, including an 8th at the prestigious X-Games and a best of 4th at Veysonnaz. However those results have all been bettered in Valmalenco.
Like many of the other top British skiing and snowboarding athletes, Zoe was forced to dig deep this year and overcome the disappointment of losing funding by turning entrepreneur, using the profits from her business to continue to compete at the top level. This year for Zoe has been all about the technical improvements that she has made, these have brought about more consistency. Better starts and much improved qualifying times have allowed Zoe to compete from better lanes in heats. Also owing to her great year has been a new confidence but there had also been a sense of disappointment that she had failed to make it on to the podium. That has now all changed and Zoe can now celebrate a complete season, with a World Cup podium as well.
