Gillings Records another World Cup Top 10

Zoe Gilling's, Britain's no 1 Olympic snowboard athlete recorded another World Cup Top 10 result at the Canadian Snowboard cross event yesterday reaffirming this as one of the most successful seasons of Zoes career to date. 
 
Zoe finished in 9th place and commented after the race, "Im obviously gutted I didnt podium but the bigger picture is much better, I've improved loads in several areas of my snowboarding since last season and I'm really really happy in the direction my team and I are going.  Everything that has happened this season is simply down to my fantastic sponsors - Pokerstars, Optimal Payments, IOM Sport Aid and BMW."

Zoe qualified in an impressive 5th place in Stoneham on Monday that ensured excellent lane choice in the heats yesterday.  Zoe sailed through her first heat in 2nd position ensuring progression into the semi finals.  Zoe then collided with another competitor half way down the course and effectively was out of the running for a top 3 spot which would have taken her into the final.  Instead Zoe went into the small final to decide places 7 to 12 and finished convincingly in 3rd place.
 
Zoe commented, "I'm not making any excuses, there are a lot of areas I can work on but overall im really happy with how far I have come this season, its down to many factors but ultimately I'm feeling really confident as I have beaten all of the Worls best in one competition or another this season."
 
Zoe now heads to the UK on Tuesday next week to take part in an event for one of her sponsors, BMW, before returning to compete in the final 2 competitions of the 2011/12 season in Valmalenco, Italy.
