Dave Ryding Wins Europa Cup Slalom Series 2012/13
Following a year that has been steadily successful for Dave Ryding, he has finished the Europa Cup Slalom series in Kranjska Gora being crowned the EC Slalom Champion for 2012/13. Although Dave did not finish on a podium at the race today (11th March), he secured 9th position overall after a fantastic second run which clocked the fastest time out of all the racers.
Ryding had competed in a World Cup on the same slope the day before and had skied out, however, his comeback today in the EC event meant that he pulled back his overall time to secure the Series Cup title.
Dave said on winning the Series Title: "It was an unreal day, a day with completely everything. A dream to have won the Europa Cup title, something two years ago I couldn't have imagined doing two years later. I've been closing the gap to the lead of the cup since christmas and to get it, is awesome. I must keep working now to make it to the next level and compete more regularly in the top 30 of the world cup."
As we near the end of the season, Dave will now take the title with him to the Delancey British Alpine Championships - in a sense, 'home turf'.
