Bronze for Billy

Billy Morgan has rounded off an incredibly successful season with a podium finish at the Sierra Nevada World Cup Snowboard finals. In what has been an unpredictable final event of the World Cup circuit in Spain, with several of the disciplines having events cancelled due to bad conditions, Billy achieved third place behind 16-year Yuuki Kadono from Japan and Canadian Maxence Parrot. In a day of tricky conditions in Sierra Nevada, with mist closing in, and stop-start runs, Billy secured third place with a 78.50 in his first run.

The bronze medal rounds off a successful year overall for the British Slopestyle snowboarder - after winning the Freeze Festival in London, Billy went on to take 7^th place at his first ever World Cup, in the Big Air event in Antwerp. Successively progressive results followed with a 5^th place at the Copper Mountain World Cup, in Slopestyle, and a 4^th place finish at the Snowboard World Championships in Stoneham, Canada.

British Snowboard Head Coach Hamish McKnight said after the event: "A great result for Billy and the team, and a great way to set up for next season and the lead up to Sochi".  

Not only will Billy take away a bronze medal from the competition in Spain, but he is now ranked second in the world for Snowboard Slopestyle according to the FIS World Ranking List (WRL).
