The 2011 Delancey British National Alpine Ski Championships Draw to a Close
After 9 days of intense competition, the 2011 Delancey British National Alpine Ski Championships have come to an end in Meribel, France.
The final day was a mixed bag with disappointment for the ladies, as the NJC Giant Slalom was cancelled as a result of unsuitable weather and snow conditions. On a more positive note, there was triumph for Ashley Sam Hill in the Men's NJC Slalom, where he finished the race in 6th place to take the British junior title and claim The Ski Club of Great Britain Silver Salvar. Both Daniel Absalom and Matthew Thompson were close behind Hill, taking 2nd and 3rd place respectively. Peter Glasgow completed the event with a combined time of 1.21.98sec, winning the men's Junior 1 title for which he was awarded the Scottish Ski Club Quaich. As with Ashley Sam Hill in the overall event, Peter fought off strong competition from Samuel Fairbairn who finished runner-up and Richard Goldsworthy who took 3rd place. The international competition was won by Leo Vukelic who placed 2nd in the event overall.
Despite what at times have been extremely challenging weather conditions, the 2011 Delancey British National Alpine Ski Championships have been a huge success. The competition has been intense, but in good spirit, with many already looking forward to the 2012 Championships, which will again be supported by Delancey.
