Successful Season for SBX Athletes

SBX Success

Britain's Snowboard Cross team athletes have had some fantastic results so far this season and are promising more to come.

At the recent World University Games in Turkey all of the British team riders made the finals.  GBR's top ranking athlete was Rowan Brandreth who finished 16th, closely followed by Thomas Bankes in 17th.  The whole team finished in the top 30, with James Barrow and Kyle Wise coming 23rd and 29th respectively.

There was further success on the slopes in Val Thorens at the FIS French Cup, which took place from 5-6th February.  On the first day of competition James Barrow finished in 8th and Thomas Bankes also placed in the top 10 after finishing 9th.  Simon Brown came a very respectable 38th.  Day 1 saw some amazing competition, but there was more to come on day 2.  Rowan Brandreth took 36th, while Simon Brown improved on his first day performance to finish in 31st position, not far behind Simon Nicholson in 24th.  The highlight though was Thomas Bankes' (pictured) superb podium finish.  He came 3rd behind Fabio Cordi of Italy in 1st and Brice Midol of France in 2nd.
