Speed Ski World Championships are Fast Approaching

It is now only 2 days to the Speed Ski World Championships, which will take place in Verbier, Switzerland on 20th April 2011.
The final event of the FIS speed ski calendar looks set to bring the speed ski season to a fantastic end. A new launch ramp has been constructed on the Mont Fort track at an estimated cost of €70,000. The new feature is 20m high and sits at an angle close to 60°, with estimates suggesting that skiers will be travelling at 100-120km/h when they leave the ramp and touch the main track. With the addition of this new investment, the organisers in Verbier will be hoping to come close to or even beat the current world record. At present the fastest speed recorded on the Verbier track is 219km/h.
Great Britain will have 6 athletes competing in the men's Speed Downhill, who are: Benja Hedley; Tom Horn; Yannick Green; Alastair Machell; Jan Farrell and Marc Poncin, with coach Millar Reid there to support the team.
Good Luck to Everyone!
