Musgrave Sprints to Success

Andrew Musgrave in Beitostoelen

Andrew Musgrave has recorded the best FIS points ever by a British Cross Country Skier, after winning the men's Sprint Prologue in Beitostolen, Norway.

The warm up to the World Championship has started.  The Norwegian Cup races in Beitostolen at the weekend not only had British team skiers racing against Norwegians, but the American and Australian teams were there as well.  Day 1 was for sprinting and the day well and truly belonged to the British, and particularly to Musgrave.

Andrew had an impressive set of races in the World U23 Championships in Estonia last month but he set the record books on fire on Friday by winning the men's sprint prologue.  For a man who has always preferred the longer distance races this is a great achievement - in fact it was an amazing achievement in a race that had big guns from both Norway and America.  In winning Andrew recorded the best FIS points of any British cross country skier (17.43) and has put down a marker for the sprint in the forthcoming World Championship.
