We are pleased to announce that Mr. James Hopkinson-Woolley has agreed to take up the position of Medical Officer for British Ski and Snowboard.  We are fortunate to have his support.  He is currently an Orthopaedic Hand and Trauma surgeon at Addenbrooke hospital at Cambridge University. He is also a keen skier who, as a junior, competed in the National Alpine Ski Championships and now annually competes in the International Inferno races in Murren, Switzerland. Such closeness to the sport enables him to relate to the athletes and understand the risks involved in all Snowsport disciplines.

As our Medical Officer, he will be available to advise British Team athletes on a variety of things, including which specialists he would recommend for certain injuries and any concerns in relation to doping. If you would like his advice your initial contact must be via email to BuchananK@teamgb.com, with an outline of the advice that you are seeking.  We should stress that this information will be kept confidential but nevertheless you should avoid putting sensitive personal information in this initial request for help.  Please ensure that your email address and contact telephone numbers are contained in this email so that James can get back to you through the most appropriate channel.

We hope that all athletes appreciate having such a knowledgeable person on board, and seek his advice when needed.
