2011 British Championships to be held in Meribel

The 2011 British Alpine Skiing Championships will be held between 27th March and 4th April 2011. Meribel, France has been selected as our preferred host location for this event following an evaluation process involving six other Alpine resorts. Meribel was selected ahead of the other places that had expressed interest in hosting the Championships because of the race pistes and facilities for spectators, the range of accommodation available, the discounted lift passes for people who stay within Meribel and the low overall cost to British Ski and Snowboard in arranging the Championships. The snow conditions so late in the season are a concern for all but none of the locations expressing interest were able to offer any greater certainty than Meribel.
This annual event normally attracts over 400 racers athletes and around 1,000 supporters, coaches, officials and technicians. The Championships will include Senior, Junior and Children's speed and technical races for men and women.
We will be publishing further details about the organising committee, the race programme, race entries and various discounts and incentives for those attending the Championships on this website.
