Team Ambition Live Up To Their Name, Sweeping the Board in the British Ladies Super Combined
Today saw the second half of the Seniors Super Combined take place at the Delancey British National Alpine Ski Championships, with fierce competition between the British and other European nations.
Despite Harriet Steggles starting the day in first position, following her winning time in the Slamon section yesterday, an unfortunate fall put her out of the running, leaving fellow Brit Elena Pocock to dominate the podium across all the Ladies' categories. With a time of 2:06.51 Team Ambition's Pocock beat Ukrainian Bogdana Matsotska in the International, before going onto win the British Land 30th Anniversary Trophy, as well as the Top Non-Team British Peter Heath Trophy and British Under 18 Adam Trophy.
Adding to her success so far this week, Imogen Taylor also had a great day, achieving 3rd place in the Ladies International and 2nd place in the British. In fact Team Ambition achieved a hat-trick in the British, when Emily Evans stood alongside team mates Pocock and Taylor to receive her medal for third place.
TJ Baldwin continued to dominate the men's podium, despite tough competition from Monaco's Olivier Jenot, who had started the day in pole position. With just 500th's of a second between them, TJ Baldwin was just that slightly bit faster and the International results finished 1st Place to Baldwin, 2nd to Jenot, and 3rd to Pol Carreras from Spain. In the British, Baldwin was awarded the British Land 30th Anniversary Trophy by the Honorary President of British Land himself Sir John Ritblat, with Robert Bullen and Matthew Thompson awarded 2nd and 3rd respectively. Thompson then went on to pick up the Lonie Quaich award for Best British Under 18, whilst Robert Bullen won the Hewitt Shield in the category for top Non-Team British.
And the action didn't stop with the NC Super Combined, as the slopes also played host to the NJC Super G. It was a clean sweep for Great Britain in the Ladies International Juniors, as Imogen Taylor came in 1st, Elena Pocock 2nd and Alexandra Tilley 3rd. Team Ambition's success story continued, with team members Taylor and Pocock achieving 1st and 2nd in the Walter Hutchinson Challenge Cup, and Taylor and Violet Miller awarded 1st and 2nd in the STS Shield for top British Juniors.
There was another win for Ambition in the British Junior Kandahar Commonwealth Cup when Bradley Morgan won it in a time of 1:20.11, closely followed by Matthew Thompson and Roy-Alexander Steudle. Jack Gower, Nicholas Moynihan and Max Baggio came 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the British Junior STS Shield, however unfortunately the British were not so lucky in the International Junior category, with 1st, 2nd and 3rd places going to Marc Oliveras of Andorre, Martin Bendik of Slovakia and Alan Aguilaniu of France.
