British Children’s Alpine Championship - Wednesday, 4th April 2012

Robert Poth Childrens Champs SG

Everything was set up ready for the Delancey British Children's Championship Super-G race on the Piste du Corbey this morning but after the forerunner and the first six girls had been down, it became obvious that the course was not going to hold up in the warm conditions so the Jury decided to cancel the event on the grounds of safety.  The crust was beginning to break through on some of the harder turns and the snow underneath had not frozen overnight, thereby risking deep ruts with hard edges, which would make the course dangerous.

The cancellation of this race means that the results of yesterday's event will be used to decide the Super-G Championship.  The children 2 champions are therefore Yasmin Cooper from the British Ski Academy and Robert Poth from Telford Ski Club.

The silver medallists are Fraser Buchan from Scottish Ski Club and Honor Clissold from Evolution with Isadora Taylor from Ambition Ski Academy and Jordon Fellows from Telford Ski Club taking the bronze medals.

In the children 1 category the champions are Grace Ragosta who trains in Sauze d'Oulx, Italy and Angus Wills from BSA.  Silvers go to Melissa Maiklem from Sandown Park and Matthew Ray from Kandahar.  Bronze medals for the younger children are awarded to Isabella Colley from Sandown Park and Arthur Coleman from Kandahar.

The prizes for the Super-G will be presented tomorrow, following the girls' Slalom and the boys' Giant Slalom.
