Alice MacAulay

Alice started skiing on a family holiday when she was 3. From then on she went on yearly family ski holidays, always doing her best to try to keep up with her big brother and sister. Whilst at home Alice joined her school (Surbiton High) ski club and skied on dry slope weekly from the age of 4 . She did her first schools dryslope race aged 7 and was hooked. Soon after that she joined Sandown Park Ski Race Club through which she participated in regional dry slope races, progressing onto snow racing at the age of 11.

She followed the British system, training in school holidays and racing in British races through which she was selected for the GB children's team in 2008. From then on Alice continued training and racing whenever possible and represented GB at a few children's international races.

As Alice progressed into FIS, she trained with the England Alpine ski team whilst still completing her GCSEs and A-levels at Surbiton High. For the 2012/13 season she joined Ambition Racing where she was trained by Marc Telling and Jo Ryding alongside the rest of their FIS team.

After finishing her A-levels in 2013, Alice took a year out of studying and spent the 2013/14 season skiing full time, based in Leogang, Austria, with Ambition. She focused all her energy on skiing as fast as she could, training as hard as possible and getting plenty of race practice. She made significant improvements over the season and lowered her FIS points, despite struggling to put everything together in races.

The 2014/15 season was a bit of a change as she started her first year studying Natural Sciences at Bath University. Alice worked around her studies to keep training in the gym and getting on snow as much as possible. Despite training much less over the season, with a more relaxed attitude, her racing seemed to catch up with her training and she managed to produce her best results to date. She lowered her FIS points, competed in major championships, achieving some credible results, and topped it off at the British Championships winning the U21 SL title and being on the podium in numerous events. Alice is now hoping to build on this by continuing to train with Ambition alongside her studies for the 2015/16 season.
