New Head of Talent appointed by British Ski and Snowboard

British Ski and Snowboard, who recently established the ambition to be a ‘top five ski and snowboard nation and podium competitive in all disciplines by 2030’ have appointed a new Head of Talent to work alongside Performance Director Dan Hunt.

Mark Ritchie, who was previously the GB Park and Pipe Pathway Manager, has been appointed in the new role which will involve designing and leading British Ski and Snowboard’s performance pathway strategy across all Olympic disciplines.

Ritchie will be responsible for aligning all the pathway activity, both at British level, but also by working closely with the Home Nations – Snowsport England, Scotland and Wales. The role will be key in building the talent pool necessary for Great Britain to become a top five nation by 2030.

British Ski and Snowboard Performance Director Dan Hunt said of the appointment: "After a thorough recruitment process I am delighted Mark has accepted the role of Head of Talent.  Mark has proven history in talent development and has demonstrated his capability within the Park and Pipe pathway.  I'm looking forward to seeing the overall talent strategy emerge and extend across all the BSS Olympic disciplines.  This is a key role for BSS as we increase our ambition as a snowsports nation."

The first phase of the role will be to develop the strategy that aligns British Ski and Snowboard’s development of snowsport athletes and creates sustainable pathways for all Olympic disciplines. The good work already undertaken in Park and Pipe will be used as a starting point for this strategic development.
