Musgrave finishes 33rd in Lillehammer Skiathlon, Tilley charges in Europa Cup and Colorado competition season kicks off for GB Park and Pipe

British Nordic athlete Andrew Musgrave tackled the 30km Skiathlon in this weekend’s Cross Country World Cup in Lillehammer. After breaking a pole, Muzzy chased down the race leaders, but couldn’t quite get back up there with the leading pack, eventually finishing in 33rd place. He will now move over to Davos with the rest of the British Nordic team to compete in this weekend’s World Cup.

Delancey Alpine Team athlete Alex Tilley secured a solid 6th place in today’s Giant Slalom Europa Cup in Trysil, with teammate Cara Brown finishing 50th in her Europa Cup debut. Alex will now go on to tackle the Slalom tomorrow as she aims to secure another Europa Cup result, whilst Cara heads over to Kvitfjell for the speed and GS Europa Cup races. Charlie Raposo was also racing in the Europa Cup in Trysil this weekend, where he missed out on qualifying for the second run in the GS on Saturday and DNF’d in the second GS on Sunday.

Aerials skier Lloyd Wallace competed in his first Europa Cup of the season this weekend in Ruka, Finland, finishing in 17th place on Friday and 13th on Saturday. He will now look ahead to the first World Cup competition of the season, which is being held in Beijing at the Bird’s Nest on 19th and 20th December.

Over in Colorado, the US Rev Tour starts today with Winter Olympian and GB Park and Pipe Halfpipe snowboarder Ben Kilner making his return to action following last season’s injury. He will be joined in Copper Mountain by up and coming snowboarder Ayla Thidling who will ride in the ladies Halfpipe competition.

The Rev Tour will also host GB Park and Pipe’s Halfpipe skiers on 10th and 11th, with Pete Speight, James Machon, Murray Buchan, in the Men’s contest and Rowan Cheshire, Madi Rowlands and World Junior Halfpipe Ski Champion, Molly Summerhayes representing in the Ladies’.

On Thursday we see the prestigious Dew Tour kick off in Breckenridge with snowboarders Jamie Nicholls, Aimee Fuller and Katie Ormerod- fresh from her Pleasure Jam win- competing in Slopestyle. Jamie will compete in the semi-finals on Friday hoping to make finals on Sunday, whilst the ladies have one round of competition, with finals on Saturday.

Winner of this year’s New Zealand World Cup James Woods and Silver World Champs medalist Katie Summerhayes will compete in Ski Slopestyle. Men’s semifinals will run on Thursday with finals Sunday, whilst ladies have one round of competition on Saturday.
