Snowboard Cross World Cup opener, Ski Cross Alps Tour continues, GB Park and Pipe in Copper Mountain & Wallace in China for Aerials World Cup

British Ski and Snowboard Cross

After finishing 20th in qualification in Val Thorens and 24th in Arosa, British Ski Cross racer Emily Sarsfield will be looking to make her mark in the next and penultimate leg of the Cross Alps Tour taking place in Montafon, Austria. Qualification begins tomorrow with finals on Saturday. Emily will then move onto the Innichen World Cup in Italy with qualifiers beginning next Tuesday.

For the British Snowboard Cross team, Zoe Gillings-Brier will be making her World Cup return in Montafon, looking to build on her Europa Cup performances. She will be joined by 19 year old Maisie Potter who will be making her World Cup debut. This follows Maisie’s 17th place finish in the Pitztal Europa Cup and 3rd in the Pitztal Junior FIS race. Qualification begins today with finals tomorrow.

GB Park and Pipe

The GB Park and Pipe team will be in action in the Copper Mountain World Cup where Katie Ormerod, Aimee Fuller, Billy Morgan, Rowan Coultas and Jamie Nicholls will be in action for the snowboarders in the Big Air. GB Park and Pipe Half Pipe Skier Rowan Cheshire will be looking to continue her form after her 3rd place finish in the Rev Tour Ski Halfpipe last weekend and will be joined by teammates Madi Rowlands, Murray Buchan and Pete Speight. Snowboard Big Air qualification begins today after being brought forward a day due to the weather forecast, and finals are scheduled for Saturday. Ski Halfpipe qualifiers are also today, with finals on Saturday.

British Aerials

Aerials skier Lloyd Wallace returns this weekend to China for the Beida Lake Aerials World Cup, his first World Cup of the season. After finishing in a respectable 10th place in the Ruka Europa Cup earlier his month, Wallace will be looking put in a good performance against the world’s best Aerials skiers. He is in action on Saturday and Sunday.

British Nordic Team

Andrew Musgrave will be the sole representative for the British Nordic Team in the World Cup in La Clusaz, France. He will be competing in the 15km Freestyle Mass Start on Saturday.

Delancey British Alpine Team

Alex Tilley is back in action in Italy following her 22nd place finish in last weekend’s Slalom World Cup in Sestriere. She will be joined by Honor Clissold in Andalo for the Europa Cup which is today and tomorrow. Tilley will compete in both the GS and Slalom, whilst Clissold will race in the GS. Tilley will follow this with her next World Cup in Courchevel on 20th December, whilst Dave Ryding is next in action in Madonna di Campiglio in the Slalom World Cup on 22nd December.

Big Air World Cup heads to Germany for GB Park and Pipe & British Nordic in Lillehammer for second World Cup

In what is shaping up to be a busy season for the GB Park and Pipe snowboarders, Katie Ormerod, Aimee Fuller, Billy Morgan, Rowan Coultas and Jamie Nicholls head to Moenchengladbach, Germany for the next Big Air World Cup, the second of three Big Air World Cups which form part of a City Big Air ‘Super Series’. Katie Ormerod will be looking to match her third place finish in last weekend’s Big Air World Cup and Olympic test event in Alpensia, Korea.

The British Nordic Team are also in World Cup action this weekend with Andrew Musgrave looking to capitalise on his brilliant start to the season after his top 10 finish in last weekend’s 15km Classic in the Ruka World Cup. He will be joined by teammate Andrew Young at the Lillehammer World Cup, where the schedule started today with the Sprint Classic, followed by the 10km (Men) and 5km (Women) Freestyle and finishing off with the 10km (Women) and 15km Classic and overall races. Cross Country Performance Squad athlete James Clugnet, and Senior Squad athlete Sam Cairns competed today at the 15km Classic FIS race in Premanon-Les Tuffes finishing 20th and 23rd respectively.

For the British Delancey Alpine Team, it is a weekend of Europa Cup, FIS and CIT races.

Following the Levi Slalom Europa Cup races this week where Charlie Raposo finished in 45th in the first Slalom, Raposo and Nick Moynihan will be competing in the GS Europa Cup in Gaellivare, Sweden. The first race is Saturday with the second GS on Sunday.

Charlie Guest is in Trysill, Norway competing in the Europa Cup Slalom. The two Slalom races take place on Monday and Tuesday.

Delancey Alpine Team athlete Laurie Taylor finished a well deserved first in yesterday's Haus im Ennstal FIS GS races scoring a PB, while Billy Major finished 19th yesterday and 14th today. Nicole Ritchie and Alice Macaulay are in Val Thorens competing in the FIS GS races and CIT Slalom races. Ella Still, Jess Anderson, Abi Bruce and Olivia Ward are in Pass Thurn competing in two FIS Slalom races on Saturday and Sunday. Also in action are Iain Innes and Sofia Iglina who will be competing in the Slalom races in Arvidsjaur in Sweden on Saturday and Sunday. Honor Clissold returned from injury with a 4th and 6th in the Bormio GS races this week, and she scored a PB in slalom in Santa Caterina Slalom.

Britain’s top Aerials athlete, Lloyd Wallace is currently in Ruka at the Europa Cup opener of the season and finished 10th in today's event.

This week in the Pitztal Ladies Europa Cup Zoe Gillings-Brier finished 15th Wednesday's race and 17th yesterday. In yesterday's event, Maisie Potter joined Zoe in 17th place, with Anna Richardson finishing 33rd.

We catch up with Delancey Ones to Watch freestyle skier, 12-year-old Kirsty Muir, to find out what she’s been up to as part of the GB Park & Pipe National Academy with her second blog.

Since my last blog, I have started my second term at Secondary School, settling in well and enjoying the challenges.

2nd October: Only Mad Dogs & Englishmen, Woodsy’s UK Tour.

We were stoked to meet Woodsy, Jossi Wells, Vincent Gagnier, Jonas Hunziker, Noah Morrison & Wacko Wells on Woodsy’s UK tour. It was awesome we got to ski with them all at Bearsden Ski Club. Great to see coach Andy Matthew there too. We were live on Facebook, ski nights really don’t get much better than that.

15th October 2016: The Brits, Chillfactore, Manchester.

I was really pleased to make the Brits, as I had an operation on the 10th October and wasn’t sure I would be well enough in time, but I really wanted to go. It was a great park and I had a lot of fun. I was amazed to win 1st Under 16 and 1st Overall female.

16th October 2016 - 29th October – Bratislava and Stubai Camp.

After the Brits we drove through the night to get our flight from Edinburgh out to the GB Park & Pipe Performance Pathway Camp in Bratislava. The airbag sessions were scary to start with but after a few runs I really enjoyed them. There is no uplift so we carried our skis up each run. You got so wet from the sprayers to keep the slope slippy but it was a lot of fun.

We then headed for Stubai, Austria. The park had only just opened and it was super busy. Having heard so much about the Stubai Park I just couldn’t believe I was there. We were really lucky with the weather. It was great having Aberdeen pals Rob Wilkinson and Angus Jacobs on the camp. Stu Innes came over for a few days from Hintertux too. The jumps were awesome. It was the first chance I'd had to try out my new Faction skis on the mountains, they were great fun. I got to try some of the pro line kickers so was really happy. If I got the chance I would definitely go back there.

I have recently joined the Freeze Pro Shop Team. It means so much to me to be part of the Freeze family. It feels like a family because there is a fantastic support structure amongst the team and the older/younger riders. Everyone is so good to me, they help me and give me advice on products and can offer a wealth of experience as everyone who works there are experienced riders themselves and are passionate about their sport.

Learning new tricks can be scary but when you land them you feel that all the work was worth it. Normally I like learning my tricks on an airbag before taking it to the dryslope. Once I have got the trick on the airbag I really just need to go for it on the dryslope. I’m working on my 7 at the moment.

I’m really looking forward to the season ahead. I love my weekly Rippers sessions at Aberdeen Snowsports Centre Dryslope with Andy Begg and the other skiers and boarders. There is already snow on the Scottish Mountains, so fingers crossed for a good season. I’ll be on the slopes in our amazing local Mountains - hope to see you there!

Northern Hemisphere competition season continues with Katie Ormerod taking second in Pleasure Jam

GB Park and Pipe snowboarder Katie Ormerod claimed 2nd place in this weekend’s Pleasure Jam, after the contest was changed from a slopestyle event to a rail-jam due to high winds in the Superpark Dachstein.

The Slopestyle World Snowboard Tour season opener saw Katie Ormerod show her prowess on the rails and beat off competition from the world-class field to secure a podium finish.

British Nordic Team skiers Andrew Musgrave, Andrew Young and Annika Taylor were all in action this weekend in Beitostolen, Norway for the FIS races. Musgrave took the best results of the weekend, finishing 5th in the 15km Classic, 6th in the 15km Freestyle and 19th in the 1.5km Sprint. In the same race, Andrew Young came 27th. Annika Taylor had a best result of 20th in the 10km Freestyle. She also claimed 25th in the 1.3km Sprint and 34th in the 10km Classic. In the Bruksvallarna FIS Races in Sweden, Callum Smith finished with a top 40 in the 10km Freestyle.

It was a busy weekend for members of the Delancey British Alpine Team who were in action in FIS races this weekend. In Levi, Finland, Nick Moynihan finished 20th in the Slalom on Friday with Charlie Raposo finishing 34th in the Slalom yesterday. The FIS GS races took place today, with Raposo finishing 6th in the first event and Moynihan coming in 34th.

In Pfelders, Zak Vinter secured an impressive 7th in one of the NJR Slalom races. Alicja Krahelski claimed two good results in NJR races, with a 13th and 26th in the two Slaloms. Megan Riley claimed 26th and 35th. Pfelders held FIS Slalom races today with British athletes Alicja Krahelski and Robert Poth both finishing 17th in their respective races.

Nicole Ritchie claimed a 21st and 22nd in two FIS Slalom races in Kaabdalis.Laurie Taylor, Billy Major, Fraser Middleton and Kieran Troup were in action in the PassThurn FIS Slalom. Middleton claimed the best British results with a 32nd & 36th.

Following the announcement of the Delancey Ones to Watch in October, we catch up with 13-year old snowboarder, Leon Drynan, who tells us what’s been happening this month as a member of the GB Park and Pipe National Academy.

What have you been up to since you last spoke to us?

I’ve been concentrating on getting my fitness back in my knee, which is feeling really good now.

I was away for a few weeks with the GB Team in October – had a mega 3 day session in Bratislava on the airbag. Then we drove on to Stubai Glacier for the remaining 10 days.

We were there for the Stubai Premiere/ Stubai Zoo Season opener on 22nd October which was awesome. Here's a link to me in the Stubai Zoo park:

The whole trip was amazing (I didn’t want to come home!). Got to ride some pretty sick lines and the jump sizes were ideal for practicing some more technically challenging jumps. The guys who work the park take such good care of it. Also had some pretty sick trampoline sessions, learning to do doubles and all other sorts of skills to take to the jumps. Landed a lovely nose plant too – thought I’d broken it…

As always, had some really good coaching and feedback from the GB coaches (Dan, Ben and Joe). All in all a really productive trip - made a little sweeter when Arbor sent out a new board for me to Stubai (thanks Adam)! www.arborcollective.com

You’ve recently been signed up to Freeze Pro Shop? What does it mean to be part of their team? What support do they offer and what difference does that make to you?

I was approached by Ross at Freeze Pro back in August who was looking to add some young guns to Freeze Pro’s team. I didn’t even need to think about saying yes. These guys sponsor some of the best riders, and I was stoked to be asked to join them.

In such a short space of time they’ve been so supportive and helpful with anything I’ve needed. How do you learn new tricks and get over the fear of trying something for the first time? Do you just take it straight to the slope or have you got some inventive ways to try and get it dialled before hitting the snow? What tricks are you working on at the moment?

I don’t normally have ‘the fear’ as such, maybe a little nervous that first time you try something bigger and more technical than you’re used to. I’ll either watch someone’s edit or trick online who’s doing what I want to do, and study their technique etc.

I’ll either just take it straight to the slope and practice, or if I’m with any of the coaches I’ll talk it over with them first. Then we can ‘tweak’ what’s good or what’s not.

Tricks I’d like to achieve are a double cork 1080. Some others I’ve been practising are SWB9’s. I landed a B7 truck driver the other night which I was pretty pleased about. The kicker at Bearsden is good for that extra height that’s needed.

What are your plans for the coming winter?

The next few months sees the second competition of the Triple Crown on Saturday 12th November which is at Bearsden – the final part being at Cairngorm on 11th March next year.

I’m training at Bearsden on a Wednesday and a Sunday. It’s been really good to get back into it as I missed a good few sessions because of my knee.

Still riding at the Snow Dome too on a Thursday and a Friday night, getting some good rail practice in, and honing new tricks.

There’s been a little flurry of snow lately up the mountains in Scotland, so I’m really hoping that’s the beginning of our winter.

Looking forward to getting up there as often as possible over the next few months.

Had some epic days up there last winter with Richy McIntosh who I ride with at the Dome each week. Richy’s also sponsored by Arbor, and it’s awesome to be able to take what we do at the Dome and do it bigger and faster up Glenshee or Cairngorm. #teamarbor

I’ve been shredding with Richy for a while now and he’s taught me a lot, including some really good rail tricks (amongst other things). He also seems to be my designated camera man (Cheers for everything bro!). Can’t wait for our trips up north to slay it over the winter.

Milan Big Air kicks off City ‘Super Series’ and Ryding & Tilley take on Levi Slalom World Cup

This weekend GB Park and Pipe snowboarders and skiers will descend on Milan as they start their journey towards the 2018 Winter Olympics, whilst Alpine skiers Dave Ryding and Alex Tilley travel to Levi to compete in the first FIS Slalom World Cup of the winter.

With Snowboard Big Air due to make its debut at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics in 2018, Katie Ormerod, Aimee Fuller, Billy Morgan, Jamie Nicholls and Rowan Coultas will start a packed winter of competition as they set out to qualify for the Games. Snowboard Big Air will take place on Saturday 12th November, with 10 men and 6 women proceeding from qualification to finals, with finals in a three-run, best two count format. The finals start at 19.00 CET.

GB Park & Pipe’s Katie Summerhayes and Madi Rowlands begin a historic season for Ski Big Air as it will be the first time a World Cup Globe will be awarded in the discipline, despite the event not featuring in the 2018 Winter Olympics. Katie and Madi will be in action on Friday 11th November with finals due to take place at 19.00 CET.

The Milan Big Air will serve not only as the first Northern Hemisphere’s FIS World Cup of the season, but also as the first of three City Big Air ‘Super Series’ events which will see the World’s best freeskiers and snowboarders crowned following stops in Milan, Moenchengladbach and Quebec City.

Over in Finland, Delancey British Alpine Team skiers Dave Ryding and Alex Tilley will be looking to make an impact at the first FIS Slalom World Cup of the season in Levi, which returns for its 10th year in the calendar.

Ryding, who starts the season ranked 22nd in Slalom, will be in action on Sunday 13th November, looking to better his impressive 15th place finish in last year’s World Cup Finals and make an impact in the Alpine World Championships in St Moritz in February 2017. Tilley, who just missed out on qualifying for the second run of the FIS World Cup GS opening race in Soelden, will tackle the women’s Slalom in Levi this Saturday 12th November, looking to put down two solid runs.

Four young ski-racers-in-the-making have just returned from a week away in Hintertux, Austria, after winning the exclusive opportunity to train with Winter Olympian, Chemmy Alcott, and her husband Dougie Crawford, at their most recent CDC Performance camp. Thomas Rascagneres (16) from Cheshire, David Cameron (14) from Tamworth, and Aimee Hudgell (18) and Lois Saunders (18), two inner-city apprentices from the innovative youth charity Snow-Camp, were narrowed down as the top candidates to join the camp, with all costs covered by principal sponsor of British Ski and Snowboard, Delancey.

The four childrens' applications for the ‘Jamie Ritblat Award for Achievement’ had been narrowed down by CDC Performance and Delancey for being the most deserving to join the camp based on their keen enthusiasm and determination to succeed in their snowsports careers. Each of the children were flown from their UK hometowns to the Austrian ski resort last week to join sixteen other 12-18 year olds on the seven day ski racing camp. Despite all coming from different ski backgrounds, each of the children left saying they felt they had challenged themselves and improved at varying aspects over the course of the week.

At the end of the camp week, Chemmy Alcott commented: “We couldn’t have asked for more motivated and inspirational winners to join us last week. Despite the varied abilities and different goals in their snowsports future, all embraced the challenge and thrived through their experience. Being part of their daily development and witnessing first hand both their technical improvements and also surge in confidence and self-belief was fantastic for all their coaches. Also having the added benefit of Lois and Aimee from Snow-Camp help educate the rest of our team on the amazing opportunity they have and how fortunate they are to be able to follow their own ski dreams.”

Of the four award winners, David Cameron was noticed to be one of the stand-outs on the camp because of his positive attitude and sheer determination to absorb as much from the experience as possible. Having only discovered skiing last year, David has since completed all nine levels of UK Snowlife, raced in three ski races and been invited to join the GB Ski X Home Nations Academy. David said he found the whole week to be a rewarding and challenging learning experience. He emphasized the camp “doesn’t just teach you the skiing, you learn discipline and things like that, like getting up early in the morning and getting you moving about, like the fitness and the activation.”

David also thanked Delancey for the opportunity to go on the CDC Performance camp, and said: “I think I’ve had one of the best experiences in my life at the moment really to date. It’s been really good and I definitely want to come again. Thank you for opening it up to me – going on a CDC Camp.”

The two girls in the group of four chosen, Lois and Aimee, were both picked from the charity Snow-Camp for being the most deserving inner-city graduates in the programme. Both girls, who have never participated in ski racing before, were thrilled to be chosen to join the snowsport athletes. Aimee said “[I feel like I’ve achieved] quite a lot, because some days I was struggling quite a bit because I’ve only been away only once. I was pretty much on blue slopes the whole time and I haven’t really been on red slopes so I was quite nervous at first. Now today I felt I’ve built a whole lot more confidence on the slopes and I’m starting to carve now too.” Lois, who also felt like she had pushed herself to her limits, said to Delancey: “I just want to say a thank you for giving me this opportunity to come out with everyone and having a new experience with different skiing.”

Thomas Rascagneres, the most experienced of the chosen four, has already been on multiple ski racing camps. He is already member of the U18 Alpine Development Squad and has won several ski champion titles during his ski career including the British Indoor Under 18 Alpine Series Champion, Overall British Indoor Skier-Cross Champion, Youth Scottish Outdoor Skier-Cross Champion, Independent Schools Under 18 Ski Champion and Highest Ranked YOB British Indoor Ski Racer. When asked how he found the overall experience on the CDC Performance Camp, Thomas said: “It’s been great. I’ve really enjoyed the opportunity to ski in a new resort that I’ve never skied in before. I think it’s been great getting to know new people, ski with different coaches and basically get a different feel.”

He followed by saying, “I just want to say a big thank you because it’s been really great that I’ve been able to come out here, because without Delancey I wouldn’t have been able to come out and Delancey have made me it possible for me to ski for an extra week – that might be the extra week that takes a fraction off a second that I needed, or give me a different outlook on skiing that I needed to progress further into FIS, so a massive thank you to them and it’s been a massive help for me.”

This weekend saw the start of the 2016/17 FIS Ski World Cup series in Soelden, Austria as Alex Tilley narrowly missed out on qualifying for the second run in the Ladies GS race and Charlie Raposo completed his first ever World Cup race in the Men’s GS.

Delancey British Alpine Team athlete Alex Tilley was 0.21 seconds from qualifying for the second run, finishing in 33rd after the first run, with the top 30 going through to the second run. Although disappointing to not get a second run this is a respectable result that Tilley can build upon. Switzerland’s Lara Gut, overall World Cup champion, took the title with Mikaela Shiffren (USA), taking second and Italy’s Marta Bassino third.

In Charlie Raposo’s World Cup debut, the 20 year-old finished in 71st position after the first run, but did not qualify for the second run, despite gaining great race experience and a credible result for his first ever World Cup. Alexis Pinturault finished top of the podium, with Marcel Hirscher second and Felix Neureuther third.

The next World Cup action for the Delancey British Alpine Team will see Alex Tilley continue her campaign with her first World Cup Slalom race of the season on Saturday 12th November in Levi, Finland. Dave Ryding will be in World Cup action for the first time in the Men’s Slalom opener in Levi on Sunday 13th November.

Introducing Delancey One to Watch snowboarder, 13-year-old, Leon Drynan. Hear all about what Leon’s been up to as a member of the Park and Pipe National Academy and the integral Young Gun for Team Braehead!

How did you get into snowboarding?

I started boarding about 3 years ago. My Dad had been doing it for a bit and it looked really fun. So I took lessons at Xscape, and on one of those I saw one of the coaches (Marc ‘Gladis’ McClement) do some tricks on the slope and I thought it was amazing. That made me want to get into freestyle. I took the freestyle training lessons on a Saturday and I was hooked!

What have you been up this summer? Have you spent a lot of time dryland training?

This summer I’ve been on some Park and Pipe camps doing some really good sessions on the airbag, to improve on tricks and learn some new ones. Right now I really want to nail a double back flip, backside double cork 1080 and backside 1080.

I was also at Landgraaf Snowworld in the Netherlands, (world’s largest indoor slope), in August for 4 days with the team and had an awesome time! The slopes there are sick to ride. I love being able to travel to new countries, learn about their culture and ride different slopes.

I’ve been doing some trampolining sessions too at AirSpace and I’ve been skateboarding. Every Thursday and Friday I’m at the snowdome riding and I’ve recently joined Bearsden’s Freestyle team too. Having a constant kicker there is excellent for getting down those bigger tricks, and the coaches are excellent.

In June I travelled down to Manchester’s Chill Factore for the English Slopestyle Championships where I picked up Silver in the Under 16’s contest.

On Saturday 10th September I took part in the Scottish Freestyle Championships, and took Bronze in the Under 16’s. I did some damage to my meniscus at this comp, so I am having some physio at the moment to ensure it’s all good for Stubai.

You’ve been part of the first ever CSS league – how have you found the experience?

Being the ‘Young Gun’ for Braehead’s team in the CSS League has been really good fun.

The league is a brilliant idea as it gets everyone fired up about going bigger and better, and that’s always a good thing. The prizes involved are pretty generous too! It’s had really good coverage and such positive feedback.

The competition has been really good between all the teams and it’s great to see all the posts on social media on the run up to results day. It’s always a buzz when the results come out!

How many runs does it take for your team to get their best tricks?

Our team is made up of guys, and Rio, (Riona Peterson), who I ride with most weeks. We are constantly filming for our latest edit.

There are some nights where you can nail a trick in one go, and others where it seems you’ve done the same execution or kicker trick over and over before you get the one you want.

Since the CSS league started I’ve learnt tricks which include a Cab Underflip 7, Backside 9 and Rodeo 7.

When it’s for a competition you need to give it 100% every time! Filming’s done over several sessions and everyone really gets behind each other.

What are your plans over the next few months in the run up to winter?

Next up for me is a 2 week trip to Bratislava and Stubai in October which I’m really looking forward too. I’m excited to get in some really good airbag sessions there and progress those more difficult tricks.

After that it’s hopefully up to the mountains as much as I can – Glencoe, Cairngorm, Glenshee, Nevis. Cairngorm has a really good park so I’m hoping I can get up there lots this winter.

How do you find balancing school and training?

Balancing school and training has been good so far. My school has been really supportive of any time off I’ve needed for camps or training. Like anyone else, as long as I’m on top off all my homework and doing well in classes it’s all good (and keeps the parents happy!)

Delancey and BSS announce the “Delancey Ones to Watch”

Delancey is proud to sponsor the first ever Championship Ski and Snowboard competition this year, an online league featuring slopes across the UK going head to head, with teams submitting videos of tricks from four of their team members for each round.

Speaking about the new the Ones to Watch series, Delancey said,

“As our aim is to support the development of Britain’s young and upcoming talent, we are delighted to name two young people who we believe have great potential in their future snowsports careers. Big congratulations to Kirsty Muir (skier) and Leon Drynan (snowboarder) who have been picked as our Delancey Ones to Watch, we wish you all the best!”

Over the upcoming winter, we will be following Kirsty and Leon in a series of interviews and blogs throughout their season of competition and training with the GB Park and Pipe National Academy.

Kicking off our series, get to know 12-year-old skier Kirsty Muir, from Aberdeen with her first blog.

Kirsty Muir, 12 year old Freestyle Skier, Aberdeen

I started skiing with my family at Glenshee Ski Centre and had lessons at Aberdeen Snowsport Centre, (ASC), joined the Sat Kids club there and was encouraged to give Freestyle Skiing a try at ASC aged 6. I loved it and haven’t looked back since.

This summer Aberdeen Snowsports Centre held its leg of Go Big or Go Home (GBOGH). It’s a really fun competition, we were on air at Northsound (our local radio station) and it was great to ski with friends. I also went to Glasgow to a GB Park & Pipe Pathway and Bearsden Freestyle Camp. We had a great few days, and there was a film edit made of the best bits – check it out here. Everyone worked hard and learnt new tricks. I love to use the airbag at Snowfactor, and it’s always good to ski at Bearsden. Snowsport Scotland’s new comp the Triple Crown Round 1 has just taken place at Snowfactor, where they had a great park and a big indoor kicker. It was awesome to see everyone do so well, and I enjoyed competing. I won my age category and overall female ski.

I train all year round on the dryslope at Aberdeen Snowsports Centre and I am a member of GB Park & Pipe Pathway. I try to get to Snowfactor to ski their park which is rebuilt every week for a Thursday and Friday night, not the weekends. It’s a 300-mile round trip, but we try and go when we can. To go to Glasgow after school on a Friday often takes 4 hours to get there with the busy traffic, but it’s worth it to get a ski on snow. If there is a GB Park and Pipe Pathway airbag session at Snowfactor on a Friday, I have to take a day off school to go and catch up with school work at the weekend. I have a busy week with training and school work but I’m used to it and love it. I have just started secondary school and I am enjoying all the challenges. I also love dancing, tap & jazz and it’s something different to do. We did our 4-day show in June at a local theatre, and it was a lot of fun. I play the drums too.

We were very excited when Aberdeen Snowsports Centre’s Ski and Snowboard teams were both accepted for the first ever Championship Ski and Snowboard. It has been fun being videoed. Thank you to everyone at the centre, other team members and parents for all helping with the videoing. It’s been a real team effort and everyone is so happy when you get the footage you were hoping for and land your tricks. Sometimes we got our filming quickly, sometimes it took a bit longer. Our slope was closed for maintenance for 3 weeks in Round 5, so it was a bit of a rush, but we did it. I’m very proud of everyone who competed, and those that didn’t for giving us huge support on the slope.

I’m really excited to be going out to Stubai in October with GB Park & Pipe Pathway. I have never been before it sounds like an amazing park.

I have just joined the Freeze Pro Shop Team. Many of the skiers I look up to are on the Freeze Team, and I can’t believe I have joined it – I’m so happy. I have been trying out some new Faction skis and I love them.
