Dr Jenny Shute MBE

Many congratulations to Dr Jenny Shute who has been awarded an MBE in the Queen's Diamond Jubilee birthday honours list in recognition for her services to British Alpine skiing.
Jenny has excelled in her voluntary service to UK and International Sport. She has helped advance skiing in a variety of ways, from developing and managing the British children's ski team, representing Great Britain in a number of FIS (International Ski Federation) Alpine Ski Committees and currently being on the Board of Directors for British Ski and Snowboard. Her main aim within all of these roles is to enhance and develop the youth side of Alpine skiing.
Jenny's total devotion to British Children's elite skiing and the advancement of British Children on the International stage make her unique in one of Britain's largest participation sports. Not only does she give up all her free time organising race camps and fitness training programmes, but also volunteers to be the manager at the FIS race competitions, so she can support each child from the sidelines. No one could me more passionate and dedicated to skiing than Jenny.
Jenny was thrilled with the news....
"This has come as a bit of a surprise, but a good one!
It has been a great privilege to work with our young ski racers over the years, and to see some great talent coming through. I've loved watching them take their first international steps at the Children's FIS races.
I have been desperate to find a clear way ahead to
get our best young athletes on the right track to long term
success, and to ensure they continue to have a great time and
healthy progress through that journey, given all the
challenges of costs and of ensuring adequate
funding!
My involvement with FIS is a challenge that I relish, and my hope
is that in GBR we can all work together with the best interests of
our athletes at heart to produce the very best outcome for all of
them!" (Jenny Shute MBE)
In recognising Jenny's incredible efforts over the last 17 years that she has been involved in British Skiing, an MBE, one of the highest honours a GB civilian can obtain, is a well deserved award for Jenny.
"Jenny thoroughly deserves this prestigious award. She has been instrumental in the success of the British Children's International Alpine programme for many years. She has also been a tireless worker for British Ski and Snowboard covering all facets of younger elite athletes involvement in our Sport since British Ski and Snowboard was launched. I am personally very grateful to her and I am delighted to see that her efforts and achievements have been recognised in this way" (Dave Edwards, Chief Executive)
CONGRATULATIONS from Team BSS!
