Andrew Musgrave Wins Norwegian Championship Alongside Norwegian Club Team Mate Martin Johnsrud Sundby

Andrew Musgrave from Aberdeenshire, along with his Norwegian club team-mate, Martin Johnsrud Sundby, took the gold medal in the team sprint at the Norwegian Championships.  

Having won their heat with fastest time of the day, they went into the final as favourites.  

The pair were the winners of the fastest semi-final heat and went on to win the final by 14 seconds.  

Andrew was on the first leg and as planned stayed in the pack on 1.5k course.  He handed over to Sundby less than a second down on the lead.  Sundby had an electric first leg to hand back to Musgrave in clear first place.  From then the pair were never troubled and both set the fastest times for each of their legs.  It's not often that there is time for a winner to bow to the crowd in this race, but their win was by the 14 secs.

Last year Andrew came second in the Norwegian Championship 15km timetrial but was not awarded the silver medal since foreigners are not eligible to win a national title.  However, in team events, (in which the teams represent a Norwegian club), each team may include one foreigner.

Andrew said afterwards that winning a Norwegian title is always going to be big dream for anyone who trains in Norway.  It had been great fun to ski with Martin.
