Double podiums in New Zealand for Delancey British Alpine Ski Team athlete Jack Gower

The start of the Southern Hemisphere season has seen British Alpine athletes bring in a haul of podiums with Delancey British Alpine Ski team athlete Jack Gower claiming double podiums, with two 3rd places in New Zealand. Honor Clissold also finished 3rd in yesterday’s National Junior Championships (NJC) GS in Thredbo, Australia and Abbie Macey claimed a 3rd place last week at the National Championships (NC), also in Thredbo.

Gower placed third in the New Zealand NC GS in Coronet Peak, claiming a fantastic 19-point result in the process. This was following another 3rd place in the Men’s FIS GS in neighbouring Cardrona a few days earlier.

Honor Clissold had a fantastic result yesterday in Thredbo, taking third spot in the Australian NJC GS race and scoring 56 points. This was after a 6th position in the Ladies GS at last week’s Australian NC in Thredbo.

Abbie Macey has also been skiing well and finished on the podium at the Ladies GS at the Australian NC in Thredbo.  Delancey U18 team racer Genevieve Baird took 10th place in the same race, following her 8th place finish in the Ladies GS FIS event in Hotham at the end of July. Yesterday she claimed 11th in the Australian NJC.

In the Men’s GS at the NC in Thredbo, Under 18 British team athlete Zak Vinter took 18th place. This was after he placed 11th in the Men’s GS at the FIS event in Hotham, Australia.

In South America, it has been a good few weeks for Nicole Ritchie from Orsatus Academy who took 6th in the Ladies Slalom at the National Championships in Cerro Catedral yesterday, following a 9th position in the Ladies GS in the South America Cup and 12th in the National Championships, both in Chapelco, Argentina.

The action continues this week in Australia as Zak Vinter is joined by fellow Delancey British team athletes Max Baggio, Ollie Davies, Darcie Mead, Megan Jenkins and Alannah Lawrie who are set to take part in the NC and NJC races in Thredbo from the 10th - 14th August.
